How we treat copyright

WEBWIZARD 360 is built on original journalism, and we respect the copyright of others because we expect ours to be respected. Our articles, headlines, photographs, graphics and page design are owned by us or used under licence. Where we publish material we did not create, we do so with permission, under a licence, or within the bounds of fair use and fair dealing, and we attribute it.

This page explains two things: how to tell us that something on our site infringes your copyright, and how we respond if you believe we removed your material by mistake. It also explains, briefly, what you may do with our work. The single address for all of it is support@webwizard360.com, with COPYRIGHT at the front of the subject line.

If you think we have infringed your copyright

If material on this site copies your work without permission, tell us and we will act quickly. We follow the notice-and-takedown approach set out in the United States Digital Millennium Copyright Act, and we apply the same fair process to complaints from anywhere in the world, whatever the local law is called.

For us to act, your notice needs to contain enough for us to find the material and understand the claim. Please include all of the following:

Your name, and your relationship to the work, whether you are the owner or authorised to act for the owner.
A clear identification of the copyrighted work you say has been infringed, for example a link to your original or a copy of it.
The exact location on our site of the material you are complaining about, as a direct link, not just a page title.
Your contact details, including an email address we can reply to.
A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorised by the owner, its agent, or the law.
A statement that the information in your notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the owner or authorised to act for the owner.
Your physical or electronic signature.

Send that to support@webwizard360.com with COPYRIGHT in the subject. A complete notice gets a faster answer, because we are not writing back to ask for the basics.

What we do when a valid notice arrives

When we receive a notice that checks out, we review the material and, where the claim is well-founded, we remove or disable access to it promptly and tell the person who posted or wrote it why. We keep a record of what was removed and why, because a takedown log is an accountability document, not a thing to hide.

We do reserve judgement in one important situation. Reporting the news frequently, and lawfully, involves quoting, describing and showing copyrighted material: a screenshot of a public post, an extract from a speech, a frame from a widely circulated video. Fair use and fair dealing exist precisely to protect that. Where we believe a use is legitimate journalism, we may decline to remove it and will explain our reasoning rather than take down accurate reporting on demand.

If you think we removed your material wrongly

If something you posted or submitted was removed after a copyright complaint and you believe that was a mistake or that your use was lawful, you can send a counter-notice. Write to the same address with COUNTER-NOTICE in the subject and include your contact details, an identification of the material and where it appeared before removal, a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief it was removed by mistake or misidentification, and your signature.

We will pass a valid counter-notice to the original complainant. Depending on the law that applies and on whether the complainant pursues the matter, the material may be restored. We try to be even-handed here, because both a genuine rights-holder and a wrongly-accused contributor deserve a fair hearing rather than an automatic default in the loudest party’s favour.

Repeat infringers, and false claims

We do not tolerate repeat infringement. Anyone who repeatedly posts material that infringes the copyright of others loses the ability to submit to us. We also take a dim view of the copyright system being weaponised. A takedown notice sent in bad faith, to silence criticism or to bury accurate reporting rather than to protect a genuine right, can carry legal consequences for the sender, and we will defend our journalism against it.

Using our work

You may quote a reasonable extract of our reporting with clear attribution and, online, a link back to the original article. You may not republish whole pieces, copy our photographs or graphics, or rebuild our work into a competing feed. If you want to syndicate or license our content, or reproduce more than a short quote, ask first at support@webwizard360.com.

The broader rules for using the site are in our terms of service, and if a story of ours is factually wrong rather than a copyright matter, that is a correction, handled under our corrections policy.
